Tom Wolfe
Co-Owner
Horticulturist
Tom Wolfe didn’t fall in love with gardening right away — but after years of working for traditional landscaping companies, something deeper began to take root. He spent seasons mowing, mulching, managing crews, and handling all aspects of general landscape maintenance. That experience gave him a strong foundation in efficiency, organization, and the realities of production-scale work — skills that continue to serve him today.
Everything changed when he began working in the fine gardening world, particularly alongside his mother-in-law. In those layered, intentional gardens, he saw what horticulture could be: ecological, expressive, and alive. That inspiration led him to pursue and complete the Certificate in Native Plants and Ecological Horticulture at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, where his passion for sustainable, meaningful land care truly came into focus.
Now, as co-owner of Restful Roots LLC, Tom brings the best of both worlds — the precision and speed honed from years in the field, and a thoughtful, ecologically grounded approach to planting and design. He sees gardens as living compositions, with each plant playing a part, and himself as the link between the land’s potential and the client's vision. His favorite projects often involve transforming conventional yards into thriving meadows or wildlife havens.
Tom’s goal is simple but powerful: to leave a legacy of beauty, health, and habitat. He wants clients to feel something when they look at their gardens — to feel moved, connected, and inspired by what’s possible when nature is given room to thrive.
